There is no doubt in saying that eyes are the most expressive features of our face. When you are happy, they twinkle in delight; when you are sad, they shed tears and cry. To protect and complement your beautiful eyes, we are all blessed with eyebrows. They frame our face, characterize our expressions and protect our eyes from dust and debris.
Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed with thick eyebrows. Just like different people, eyebrows also differ in their thickness, shape and character. From dark and coarse ones to soft and wispy ones, your eyebrows may be completely different than your own personality!
But fear not! Today there is more than one way to make your eyebrows look outstanding with the help of eyebrow specialists. At our brow bar in Dubai for instance, we focus on helping women get the eyebrows of their dreams, no matter how they look right now.
For women with light and ‘barely there’ eyebrows, microblading has become a really useful method to get the brows they deserve. Microblading allows eyebrow specialists to draw and fill in your eyebrows with a semi-permanent ink, giving you a set of natural-looking brows that look great for weeks!
But if you need some time to think about opting for microblading and are looking for some alternatives that you want to try in the meantime, here are 5 secrets to having beautiful eyebrows every day.
Understand what type of eyebrows look good on your face
Before you start thinking of and wanting “Brooke Shield” brows, wake yourself up and get practical. Eyebrows are never a ‘one-size-fits-all’ feature. Eyebrow specialists use six different eyebrow shapes to start with. There is the high arch, the soft arch, the straight, round, thick and curved. To know what shape fits your face the best, you can always consult with your local eyebrow specialists.
Once you have an understanding of the eyebrow shape that suits your face the best, you can opt for microblading or follow the self-grooming steps explained below.
Start by familiarizing yourself with your shaping tools
If you are naturally blessed with thick eyebrows, it is important to groom them regularly for beautifully shaped flawless eyebrows. To groom them well, you need two different pairs of tweezers. While the angled tweezers are great for pulling out thick, coarse and curlier eyebrows, the pointed tweezers are best for precision-tweezing of fine baby hair. You’d also need a pair of scissors to deal with out-of-line hair strands that are at the center of your brows.
Start with baby steps
It’s understandable why some women are scared of shaping their eyebrows on their own. Since it’s an important part of their face, women tend to leave the grooming of eyebrows in the hands of eyebrow specialists. However, we believe there is nothing that women can’t do. So if you really want to give it a go, here’s a tip to do it right.
Start by holding an eyebrow pencil straight up from the outside edge of your nose to the inner corner of your eye. The point where this hits your brow is where your brow should begin. Use the outer corner of your nostril as the base, move your pencil and mark the top end of the outer corner of your eye. This is the spot where your brow should end. Mark these spots and gently draw an outline of the shape you are trying to achieve before pulling out your tweezers!
Choose the right shade to fill in
Let’s face it. Even if you do have thick eyebrows, gaps in eyebrows are a very common issue. This is why it is necessary to have an eyebrow filler for your eyebrows to really stand out.
When you are a lighter hair colour, choose a shade darker than your hair for your eyebrows to give them more definition. For instance, if you are blond, choose a shade closer to light honey so that it is darker than your hair and still helps your eyebrows to be well defined. The opposite is true for dark haired women. Go for a shade lighter than your black or brunette hair so that your eyebrows don’t look too harsh on your face.
Don’t strive for the perfect “twins”
When grooming your eyebrows, don’t try to make them look identical. Striving for that level of perfection is something even eyebrow specialists refrain from. What you should do instead is to pick your ‘favourite brow’ and use it as a guide for your second one. Mimic the shape and fill it, but once again, don’t try too hard for them to “twin”. Consider your eyebrows as cousins rather than identical twins!
Brownie point to keep your eyebrows on point!
Our eyebrow specialists at BROWZ suggest using a light weight highlighter to trace beneath your brow and blend it into your bone structure with your fingers to add more definition to your look. This step will help enhance and polish your look within seconds!
