Brow Lamination: The Secret To No Fuss Brows Everyday

thumbnail preview

Let’s face it – eyebrows take the most time to fill and shape when doing your makeup. Sometimes the focus and precision you need to do your eyebrows properly can be a hassle, especially if you’re running late. But despite the circumstances, they cannot be skipped as it is a key step in completing the definition of your makeup look. And at the same time, doing it quickly can mess up your makeup altogether.

Brow lamination has now become popular as the secret to no-fuss brows every day. If it is your first time hearing about this beauty treatment, here is what it is and how it shortens your getting-ready routine.

What is it?

Brow lamination is like a lash lift, but this treatment is done for your brows. It is a semi-permanent makeup procedure that tames the unruly hair and sets them in place to give it a combed, slick effect. It involves perming your brow hair, but instead of curls, with brow lamination, you will get straighter, upward-facing hair set in place.

It corrects the appearance of bare patches and irregular hairs and makes thin brows look way fuller. Especially for someone with a decently full brow, brow lamination can make them look fluffier and appear styled at all times.

As the lamination will stay in place, creating a default definition or arch that you like to maintain for your everyday makeup look is possible. That way, you won’t have to take any time or extra work to get them lifted and styled daily.

The Process

The brow lamination treatment process is completely non-invasive and pain-free. It only takes roughly 30-45 minutes to get them done and has two steps: applying a straightening solution and a setting solution.

First, the bonds between your brow hairs are broken, and the lifting/straightening solution is applied. This step allows your brow artist to brush and straighten them to your desired shape or style. Next, a setting solution is applied to reset the bonds in your brow hairs into their new, restructured shape. Finally, a touch-up shaping and tinting are done to complete the look.

You must let your brows dry and set for at least 24 hours. So it’s best to refrain from getting them wet before that.

What You Can Expect

If you have thin or sparse brows, brow lamination can help in covering the gaps in brows, defining them and creating the illusion of an entire eyebrow. On the other hand, if you have a relatively thick brow, lamination can make it look fluffy and fuller.

You can also use any product on laminated brows to enhance the existing style. It is much easier to work and style on laminated brows as it already has the shape and structure defined and set in place.

How long these laminated brows last will depend on your hair cycle. Like your eyelashes, even your eyebrows have a natural hair renewal cycle where old hair falls out and new hair comes through. On average laminated brows last anywhere from 5-8 weeks.

There is also a little bit of confusion that eyebrow lamination, as the word says, makes them look glossy, oily, and stuck to your forehead, which isn’t true. The final look of eyebrow lamination is more natural; the gloss you see in most pictures online is just the eyebrow gel applied during the process. The word lamination emphasizes the semi-permanent results it gives for a no-fuss eyebrow look all day, making eyebrow products only an afterthought in your daily makeup routine.
