Tips To Make Your Eyelashes Healthy

thumbnail preview

Eyelashes are commonly exposed to lash curlers, adhesives to stick falsies and beauty products like mascara. Continuous exposure to these harsh agents can damage the lash health and even lead to loss of eyelashes.

Genetic factors have a role to play in whether you have long and thick lashes or otherwise short and thin eyelashes. However, some of the environmental factors that contribute to loss of lashes are stress, hormonal imbalance, dryness on lids, and aging. Poor hygiene can also cause lashes to fall out; make sure to remove your eye makeup before going to sleep, and only use products that have not expired. Avoid vigorous rubbing of the lashes, as this can also contribute to falling out.

Long, healthy lashes are desired by many, as they lift your look and enhance your facial features. For this reason, women resort to all these harmful methods of treatment, which deteriorate their lash health. However, there are a lot of natural ways to promote eyelash health and to boost the lash length.

The different methods to improve the lash length and health include:

Castor oil: Castor oil has been tried and tested over the years, and is a solution that improves the thickness and length of eyelashes and eyebrows. It is rich in proteins, fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins, all of which help nourish the hair follicles.

You can use castor oil by mixing it with coconut oil and dabbing a few drops on the eyelashes. Repeat the process every night before going to bed, keep it overnight, and wash it off the next day.

Green tea: Green tea is not just good for the body but has a lot of other amazing properties. It is rich in flavonoids and polyphenol epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) both of which promote the lash length and volume.

The constituents in green tea have been proven to be effective in promoting lash health and growth. You can either drink green tea regularly or otherwise dab a few drops onto the lashes to reap the different health benefits. You can also freeze the green tea bag and then place it on the lashes for visible results.

Olive oil: Olive oil is another solution that is rich with essential fatty acids. The fatty acids in the oil help promote lash and eyebrow hair growth. You can use the oil by dipping a cotton swab in olive oil and then smearing it onto the eyelashes. The ingredient keeps the lashes hydrated and healthy.

Besides these ingredients, there are some tips you can follow to preserve the health of your eyelashes.

The different tips are:

  • Be gentle with your eyelashes while applying and removing makeup. Avoid rubbing the lashes harshly, instead dab and swipe the products off gently. Excessive, harsh rubbing is a prime cause for eyelash fall out.
  • Do not sleep with eye makeup. This can affect your skin and eyelashes. It can cause dark circles, acne, and also make the lashes brittle.
  • Make sure to use good eye makeup products. The eyes are a sensitive area, and the skin around this area is also very delicate. Use trusted mascara brands and dispose of the products that have expired.
  • Diet is a crucial factor in promoting hair growth. Consume food that is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, iron, and beta carotene. Green leafy vegetables, fish, and nuts are rich sources of these nutrients.
